Man Fashion Show: Gucci SS 09 Review

Typical summer shades seemed far from the minds of numerous designers at the beginning of fashion week.

That was, of course, until Frida Giannini injected some unbridled life into the proceedings.

At Gucci, bold stripes and elaborate florals were found on ultra-slim pants and variegated styles of that true Gucci-jacket which now seems ubiquitous.

Giannini aimed to convey 'youth and luxury' – which also meant soundtracking the show with indie-favorite 'Time to Pretend' by MGMT.

Not only is Giannini reminding us of the archetypal Gucci aesthetic, she is also making clear her distinct lack of vision for the development of this line.

Man Fashion: Men's Bermuda vs. Men's Capri Pants

Some of the men fashion designers have launched their 2008 Spring Collection and for some of leading men fashion designers' brands like DKNY and Ralph Lauren have focus on Men's Bermuda and Men's Capri Pants.

So here is some simple explanation on how to differentiate between Men's Bermuda and Men's Capri Pants.

Ralph Lauren's 2008 Spring Collection

Men's Bermuda Shorts

Men Bermuda Shorts are a particular type of short trousers, now widely worn as casual attire by both men. The hem can be cuffed or un-cuffed, around one inch above the knee.

They are so-named because this men fashion style has been made populated in Bermuda, a British Overseas Territory, where they are considered appropriate men business attire when made of suit-like material and worn with knee-length socks, a dress shirt, tie, and blazer. They are available in a variety of colors, including many pastel shades as well as darker shades.

DKNY's 2008 Spring Collection

True Men's Bermuda shorts are not to be confused with "clam diggers" or "capri pants" extending below the knee. Cargo shorts may be a similar length, but are typically baggy or less "tailored" than Bermuda shorts.

Men's Capri Pants

Men Capri Pants are a style of pants usually worn in hot weather. They are designed to end mid-calf or just below the calf. More recently, the length of the pants has been shortened to just below the knee in some designs. Though capri pants are most popular with women, they have become popular among men fashion world in many tropical countries and Europe.

Resources: 12 Men Fashion Magazines

Beside normal TV, newspaper, magazine is my main source of man fashion style. Most often or not, we only manage to browse through few, say 4 to 6 magazines unless you are working in this industry. Today, I would like to share with you the most prominent and prestige men magazines in the market, either be in fashion, health, fitness, love, career and many more.

  1. Details - Though primarily a magazine devoted to fashion and lifestyle, Details has also featured reports on relevant social and political views.
  2. Esquire - is a men's magazine by the Hearst Corporation.
  3. FHM(For Him Magazine) - a magazine that predominantly fashion-based publication distributed through high street men's fashion outlets.
  4. GQ - is a monthly men's magazine focusing upon fashion, style and culture for men, through articles on food, movies, fitness, sex, music, travel, sports, technology and books.
  5. Maxim - is an international English language lad mag (men's magazine) based in the United Kingdom and known for its revealing pictorials featuring popular actresses, singers, and female models.
  6. Men of integrity - Daily devotional for the challenges men face.
  7. Men's fitness - Popular men's magazine. Features include fitness advice, lifestyle articles, and sex tips
  8. Men's health - Provide information and tips on fitness, health, career, relationships, nutrition, recipes, weight-loss and muscle building
  9. Men's Journal - is a general interest, active lifestyle magazine with a focus on adventure, travel, equipment, sports, fitness, health, style, ideas.
  10. New Man - National magazine for single man
  11. Stuff - From the publishers of Maxim, Stuff is aimed at male readers 18-25 years old, and each monthly issue is chock full of irreverent humor about the subjects they love most: beautiful women, sports, and the latest gadgets
  12. Playboy - You should know by now.
If you think I have missed out any of the important men magazine, do drop me a note so that I will update the list accordingly.

Keep Your Man In Style By Choosing Designer Ties To Spice Up His Wardobe

Some people think that men are ignorant of fashion, especially a lot of women. That may be true of some men but as for myself I try to stay on top of the market. For one thing it is part of what I do as an internet marketer of diverse products. I need to know what is hot and what’s not so I don’t waste time and money promoting things that are not in demand.

With that said, if you are a lady who has a man that is not so into fashion and keeping up with what is in style you may have to take up the slack. One way to do this is to bring home a fine quality designer tie for him that will bring that old suit back to life. If you couple a new tie with a new white dress shirt it can add spice to nearly any suit.

All men will have the need for a suit and tie at some point. I know I wear only shorts and flip flops 95% of the time but when I go to seminars or speaking engagements I am expected to dress appropriately which includes wearing a nice suit and I am picky about the ties as well. I will not wear any tie, since I don’t wear them often I like to really make a statement when I do.

It doesn’t matter if your husband or boyfriend is conservative or more on the wild side ladies, there is a diverse selection of designer ties available in every imaginable color and pattern so you are sure to find something that will suit his taste. If your man is a little more on the unstructured side like me you may want to consider a tie that is a little more on the wild side as opposed to conservative. For example, I would not be caught dead in a striped tie!

If your man does wear a suit and tie everyday like I used to do he will appreciate the gift of a new tie to add new life to something he has been wearing on a daily basis. Try to get him to be a little experimental in tie selection as well as shirt colors. I knew a lot of men who only wore white shirts with gray suits and drab striped ties, how boring is that? People used to get a kick out of me because they never knew what color or what kind of wild print I would have on my ties.

Man Fashion: Man's cardigan

The cardigan has long been a staple item of clothing in the wardrobe of many a woman - but, while cardigans have always been a unisex staple of knitwear, the men's cardigan has recently experienced a fashion resurrection. In fact, the men's cardigan is one of this year's most essential male fashion items.

But this trend of male cardigans is nothing new. Famous male cardigan wearers throughout the twentieth century have included a range of personalities, from the American comedian Bill Crosby and the British comedian and TV presenter Simon Amstell, to the renowned children's writer Roald Dahl and even rock legend Kurt Cobain.

In fact, the Cardigan was first named after James Thomas Brudnell, the 7th Earl of Cardigan, who was a British military commander during the Crimean War; since this time the cardigan has always been worn by both sexes. The male cardigan even made the headlines in the twentieth century, when the outspoken Bulgarian-born broadcaster and dissident, Georgi Markov, was involved in an attempted assassination - a poisonous pellet was saved from entering his skin too deeply because he was wearing a very thick woollen cardigan!

The year of 2007 has brought a revolutionary transformation in the designs of men’s cardigans. These cardigans have changed the entire variety of men’s fashions right from the ramps of Los Angeles to fashion houses and designer boutiques. The men’s cardigan range has got everything for you, whether you are searching for cardigan to go along with your formal dress or whether you are looking for a stripped or cross cheque cardigan to give you a ‘free of tension’ casual appearance. In short it can be said that 2007 is the year to fill your cabinet with cardigans.

This season's collections sees many top fashion retailers in the UK take their influences from the Beatnik era of the 1950s and 1960s, with strains of Parisian chic and jazz-soaked fashion penetrating the Spring/Summer 2007 look. Casual cardigans were a large part of the sophisticated image perpetrated by both well-known French philosophers, like Jean Paul Sartre, and legends of the American beat generation, Jack Kerouac and William Boroughs. If this is the look you're going for this season, then make sure you invest in some stripy cardigans or plain woollen cardigans for maximum effect.

And as the summer fast approaches, cardigans could also form an essential part of your festival fashion wardrobe. In fact, the men's cardigan is one of the most flexible and adaptable items of clothing a man could own. For instance, a cardigan can be worn loose during the day over a t-shirt for a chic but informal look; however, paired with a skinny tie, smart trousers and formal shoes for an effortlessly stylish evening look. So make sure you're not left out of this year's men's cardigan revolution and give yourself the freedom to adapt your look!

Diamond: Man's new Friends

We always said diamonds are a girl’s best friend. However, trend has changed. Man are start to addicted to this prestige accessory too.

At Isetan department store’s Men’s Building in Shinjuku, Tokyo, about 20 jewelry brands vie for men’s favor with their products.

Many of them look attractive to female fashion connoisseurs, too, as the varieties include a wing-shaped pendant studded with diamonds and rings decorated with sapphires or other colorful gemstones.

Isetan buyer Oko Narikawa said men who used to enjoy silver accessories are beginning to go for high-end jewelry adorned with diamonds and other expensive materials.

“They enjoy these products as items inspiring them with beautiful designs. Some men are particularly fond of handmade jewelry, while others like to own something with a story behind it,” Narikawa said.

With the rising popularity of upscale jewelry among men, jewelry brands are enhancing their men’s product lines.

Diamond giant De Beers, for example, has launched a men’s line this autumn. The products include pieces designed by renowned British jewelry designer Stephen Webster, using rough diamonds.

Ponte Vecchio has designed rings to look like the waistband of a pair of jeans with diamonds as the belt buckles.

Shops specializing in men’s jewelry also are on the rise. Upscale U.S. jeweler Harry Winston opened a branch at the Tokyo Midtown commercial complex in Roppongi, Tokyo, in March. The shop offers a special, relaxed shopping environment to male customers, making them feel like as if they are trying on jewelry in a guest room at their friend’s house.

SJX, a men’s jewelry boutique at Omotesando Hills in Harajuku, Tokyo, has an urbane atmosphere with its gold and black interior.

Thanks perhaps to the spreading notion of choi-waru oyaji,” or middle-aged men who are a bit “bad,” or the introduction of “cool biz” summer dress codes, men seem to have become aware of a kind of beauty to which they did not pay attention before.

Clothes That Look for You

Sometime it might be shocked that we've been taught to look for new clothes all the time, and that the contemporary clothes wear off so soon. However, if you wear your favourite clothes every day, you only need one outfit, and this is actually imply to me that when it is your favorite clothes, is the clothes that find you and not the other way round! Do you agree?

Men fashion accessories: Perfumes

So far, there are so many posts in term of fashion accessories such as earrings, tie, belts, fashion bags etc. Today, we will touch on the sexiest item in the men fashion accessory lists, i.e.

Perfumes.

When it comes to creating long lasting impression on women, the first thing men choose is class fragrances for men. Modern men wear perfumes as an indication of their style and passion. Perfumes for men speak about the wearer's attitude and defines a fashion statement for him. The market is flooded with a variety of cologne man perfumes. When it comes to accessorizing wardrobe, designer scents for guys occupy a supreme position.

History

According to wikipedia, the world's first recorded chemist is considered to be a person named Tapputi, a perfume maker who was mentioned in a cuneiform tablet from the second millennium BC in Mesopotamia.

Recently, archaeologists have uncovered what is believed to be the world's oldest perfumes in Pyrgos, Cyprus. The perfumes date back more than 4,000 years.

Perfumes vs. Cologne

The most practical way to start describing a perfume is according to its concentration level, the family it belongs to, and the notes of the scent, which all affect the overall impression of a perfume from first application to the last lingering hint of scent. Perfume oil is necessarily diluted with a solvent because undiluted oils (natural or synthetic) contain high concentrations of volatile components that will likely result in allergic reactions and possibly injury when applied directly to skin or clothing.

Cologne perfumes have a higher concentration of alcohol. The terms 'perfume' and 'cologne' are often considered to be synonymous. But in reality they are different and the basic differentiation lies in the ratio of alcohol water base. When compared to colognes, perfumes are on a higher side in terms of essential oils. Also their fragrance retains for a long time and is more effective and prominent.

By far the most common solvent for perfume oil dilution is ethanol or a mixture of ethanol and water. Perfume oil can also be diluted by means of neutral-smelling lipids such as jojoba, fractionated coconut or wax.

A diverse variety of elegant fragrance perfumes are stored in shopping malls and is among the top hot shopping list of men of all age groups. The gamut of scents is pretty extensive and encompasses price friendly mass fragrances to luxury prestigious fragrances and hip hop style celebrity fragrances. The specialty of mass fragrances lies in the fact that its like a double bonanza offer with a combo of high quality and reasonable price. The packaging is also good enough to lure people into trying it. Some good examples are Adidas and Revlon.

Prestigious fragrances are more of a status symbol indicative of richness and royalty. They contain special ingredients for which people are ready to pay any amount.

Celebrity fragrances are selling like real hot cakes. These scents are endorsed by people's favorite celebrities like Brittany Spears who make these products popular among people owing to their charismatic qualities. To name few such as Dunhill, Polo, Guess, are few famous brands in the list of celebrity fragrances. So, go make your own fashion style with your unique fragrance.

Lastly, proper preservation of perfumes may keep them away from sources of heat and storing them where they will not be exposed to light. An opened bottle will keep its aroma intact for up to a year, as long as it is full or nearly so, but as the level goes down, the presence of oxygen in the air that is contained in the bottle will alter the perfume's smell character, eventually distorting them.

Man fashion advice: Back to Basic

Many men and women do not have much idea about Mens Fashion. Very often problem faced by men are what they can wear to appear professional or what they should wear so that they do not look outdated but overtly trendy.

It will be important to understanding the basics of men's fashion and put this knowledge into a permanent mens fashion style. There would not be anymore worry about following trends but perpetually looking stylish.

Back to Basics
The basics of fashion for men boil down to knowing what each piece of apparel is made up of. The fabrics used determine a lot on the quality of the apparel. Good fabrics allow the apparel to withstand wear and tear.

If any men's clothing or accessories that wear out fast would naturally make it look old and badly cared. This does not reflect well of the men wearing it and easily put most men out of style just by looking shaggy.

The next important points to note are the details found in every apparel and accessories. Details can be subtle but it creates a very big impact in the eventual outlook of the styling.

So before we start playing with details, the knowledge of each detail's responsibility and how it helps in holding up the item or even gives significance to it in style can assist us in choosing the best men's clothing.

Concepts of Co-ordination

Learning how to coordinate is another tough thing for many men. It does not need to be if they just understand about the various concepts of coordination. Starting from differentiating the type skin complexion they belong to would be the most basic knowledge to acquire.

Then they just need to put on the right color clothing against their complexion that perks up their facial skin tone and brings the attention to their face.

After that, coordinating colors between the various men's clothing is another method. There are various ways to match different and similar or same hues as well as the shades of hues to achieve the nicest blend of colors.
